Police parade 60 robbery suspects in Rivers

The Commissioner of Police in Rivers State, Zaki Ahmed, says the command has smashed a notorious criminal gang which specializes in snatching vehicles.

Members of the gang were amongst 60 suspects paraded before the press for various crimes, at the police command’s headquarters in Port Harcourt.

TVC News Uche Okoro reports that amongst the evidence of successes recorded by the police in Rivers State in the last one month are suspected armed robbers and cultists whose arrests also led to the recovery of assorted arms and ammunition.

One of the biggest victories for the police is the arrest of a 4-man armed robbery gang who had prior to this time, been terrorising residents of Port Harcourt.

Also in the month of May, the police says it recovered 1275 live cartridges from members of a syndicate responsible for supplying ammunition to men of the underworld in Rivers State.

The Rivers State Police Commissioner also used the opportunity to reassure residents of improved security of lives and property under his watch.

He has however appealed to residents to continuously provide information to the police to enable the force to sustain the successes achieved so far.
